I should try to adjust it more when I'm working with the source. I guess the lesson is that when you join more than 3 or so pictures, you're going to be dealing with some heavy distortion. If so you could try the lens correction tool (filter -> distort -> lens correction), then slide the "remove distortion" slider to the left to remove some of the pincushion. I got pretty good results on your image with a setting of -56. Of course, with that amount of correction the pixels get worked pretty good so the resulting image isn't as sharp but I would imagine your 17,000px source file would have some pixels to spare for this.
